We closed on the
dilapidated duplex fixer-upper and got to work! I had big ideas. I knew the exterior stairs had to go and we needed to add stairs inside. Of course in the tiny house it was a challenge to fit them in. How in the world will that work?
The house is small, and the space is limited. So, we gutted the place to the studs and put those much needed stairs INSIDE the building where they belong.
And up those stairs…an old bathroom and a couple extra sinks fill the space that was originally the attic – which was converted into an office several years ago. Notice the luxurious painted subfloors. The glossy paint really highlights the pressed wood texture. Downstairs this is one of the 1950’s bathrooms, complete with mint green tile.
A blue kitchen in one corner…
… and a red one in the other
The funniest part of looking back at these photos is that the place never actually looked this good! These are the real estate photos that were used to sell it…So you’ll have to trust me that it was pretty rough. The actual dirt, grime, and age just don’t show in the photos as they did in real life.
Stay tuned for Part 3 as we get started on the heavy lifting!
